Piccies News
5th February 2008: Well 2007 was a quiet and rather duff weather year for me. Didn't stop me getting some
great gliding and butterfly shots. Highlight of the year has to be my gliding trip to Aboyne in October. Meanwhile
I upgraded to a Canon Powershot A650IS which arrived 31st January. So my megapixels go from 4 to 12 and zoom from
3 to 6. The focussing speed is quicker too for fast moving birds and insects, and image stabilisation helps a lot in
dull conditions. The extra resolution and zoom gives me a lot more scope for catching distant objects too.
6th April 2007: As winter gives way to spring I have created a new section for the
JWalkers group that I am a member of. To view pictures
from the walks please go to Mike's JWalkers page. Meanwhile new pictures
continue to be posted and my gallery continues to increase in size. The highlights so far are the gliding
pictures and some rare optical phenomena in the Weather section.
29th January 2007: I decided to tweak the layout. Hope you find this better than the old layout. It
feels less cluttered now, and easier for me to update too with everything related to a section in one place.
After being way behind the last few months I have finally almost caught up with the present. Meanwhile I did
have a go at selling prints on eBay, but after no interest whatsoever I have stopped for now. Please let me
know if you are interested and maybe I might have another go in the future, or even negotiate a direct sale.
1st December 2006: I have decided the watermarks have been a failure. While they do decrease the chance
of my images being nicked, they also spoil the image as a whole. I would rather dump the watermarks and maybe
find a less obtrusive format later on. They will slowly disappear again now. Picture Shark is still a cool
piece of freeware though for those who want to create watermarks. In other news I have been trialling selling
A4 prints on eBay. Any feedback about this would be greatly appreciated. Trial listings are due to end
tomorrow afternoon UK time. I have yet to decide whether to list any more or not.
5th November 2006: You may have noticed watermarks starting to appear on my images. Lately an
increasing number of my images have started appearing in the public domain and in corporate publications
without my permission. I have been considering watermarks for a while, and finally found a nice freeware
programme called Picture Shark that allows me to watermark my
images exactly as I want. If you want to purchase a picture of mine without a watermark, then please do
contact me and I am sure we can do a deal. Please see the Purchasing page for
more info.
17th May 2006: As of today everything is in one place again. No more redirects. This has been made possible
by a move to a new host - http://www.1and1.co.uk/. Do let me know if there
are any issues. But hopefully things will be much better now. Direct link to page: http://piccies.flybywire.org.uk/
29th June 2005: Stop press: my first ever lightning piccies have just been uploaded to the Weather Piccies page.
Other news: I have run up against my webspace limits again. I wanted to upload a selection of pics from my trip to
Iceland earlier in the month, but this will have to wait a while. But atleast that backlog almost got cleared.
